So picture this, it’s finally Mothers Day, you have your thoughtful Mothers Day gift wrapped and ready and you’re ready to celebrate with your Mum, there’s just one last thing to do– write the card. Writing sentimental messages on cards is never easy, it’s always difficult to capture appreciation and love in a few short sentences without resorting to cliches. You don’t want to hand over a beautiful bouquet of Mothers Day flowers with a card that only says “To” and “From”.
Before Mothers Day, on the 10th of May (we know you already knew that but just in case!) take a few tips from us. We have quite a bit of Mothers Day experience at Sydney Flowers and after this we think you might write a card so good your Mum will frame it.
There’s no need to be too formal when you write your card. Mothers Day is all about appreciation and using a bit of humour can make your card more sentimental and personal. You could even poke a bit of fun at yourself– “Sorry that I have fallen short with my gifts in the past but this year I have managed to get a very thoughtful Mothers Day Gift.”
Take your Mum back in time by referring to some of the memories you’ve shared. This will remind your Mum of the good times that you have had together while showing her that you appreciate her and haven’t forgotten the things she has done for you or the ways she has helped. Couple this with purchasing a thoughtful Mothers Day gift like the wallet she mentioned she liked, the pair of earrings she pointed out unknowingly and a bunch of her favourite flowers and you just might have nailed it!
It’s always nice to remind your Mum that she is loved. Afterall, you are one of the only people who knows what her heartbeat sounds like from the inside. Many of us are guilty of taking our beautiful Mothers for granted. Along with your thoughtful Mothers Day gift, make sure you speak from the heart. Don’t hold back for the fear of being “corny”, let her know that she is special to you. Go one better by organising a personalised card from Moonpig to accompany your Mothers Day gift.
Including a relevant or famous quote is a good idea if you’re stuck for what to say. If your Mum has a favourite quote or there is a line from a movie that you have shared together then why not include it? If you need some ideas we have provided a few of our favourites below.
If all else fails, just tell your Mum you love her, give her your thoughtful Mothers Day gift or cook her a Mother’s Day brunch and organise a bouquet of her favourite flowers from your local florist. You can’t fail with that combination. If you need a bit of help with the bouquet please give Sydney Flowers a call. We have a wide range of flowers and we can guarantee that we can work together to put something together your Mum will love.
